Blessed Are Those Who Hunger & Thirst
In our series "Sermon On The Mount," Pastor Dennis discusses what it means to hunger and thirst for righteousness. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled." This statement highlights that everyone has a type of hunger, but the vital question is, what are we filling it with? Many of us might be satisfying this hunger with worldly things instead of seeking righteousness.
Think about junk food: the more you eat it, the more you want it. The same applies to sin—the more you engage in it, the more you crave it. It’s crucial for us to pay attention to what we are feeding our spirits. Some of us are very careful about our physical diet and avoid what we’re allergic to, but we don’t give the same thought to our spiritual health and what our spirit is allergic to. Therefore, when it comes to the desires of the flesh, we should fight them by starving those cravings.
Take a moment to reflect on your own life. What are you spiritually hungry for, and how are you trying to satisfy that hunger? Let’s commit to seeking righteousness and filling our lives with what truly satisfies our souls.
