Blessed Are Those Who Mourn

What does it truly mean to mourn? When we delve into Matthew 5:3-4, we read, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” How do these words guide us in understanding the journey of mourning and finding comfort? Mourning means properly repenting your sins to God without any underlying meaning or demands. When you are unrepentant, many signs make it clear: lying, denial, covering up, resistance. But having a repentant heart means no defensiveness, excuses, victim attitude, or resistance. Take time today to go before Jesus and to be truly repentant today.
