Vision and History
With two generations of preachers behind me, I sometimes feel like I was born to do this. Now, with more than twenty years of experience under my belt, I’d have to say it’s true. I just love being the Senior Pastor here at ExperienceChurch.tv where we’ve been blessed with a congregation open to the use of some pretty unconventional messages and methods to spread the word of God here in our Puyallup home, and around the world on the Internet.
Pierce County is the most “unchurched” county in the nation, which is why I’m particularly proud of our leadership and worship teams that have worked so hard to offer music, styles of worship and programs that minister to every generation.
I’m also very thankful for the powerful alliances we’ve been able to forge with corporate leaders and our international partners. Speaking God’s truth to this culture requires us to think outside the box when it comes to media and messaging, but our core purpose is always there – to be a light to the lost through the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Founding Pastors
Albert and Lorraine Batterson co-lead the Faith Builders (50+ years and older) with the sensitivity that each and every mature adult is the most important person in the church. They are looking to the Lord each and every day for His Divine Direction. Their purpose and desire is to communicate the Love of Jesus to all those they minister to. They want to help each and every person know they are important and are fulfilled as they assist each one to reach their full potential in Christ Jesus.
History
After forty plus years in ministry, pastoring churches in Washington and Idaho, Pastor Al and Lorraine Batterson felt the call of God to start a new church “from scratch”. They rented the Fruitland Grange hall on South Hill in Puyallup and on a Sunday in August 1990, they opened the doors to friends, family and the community. Pastor Dennis and Lori Cummins were added to the staff of the church in 1991. Since then, the church has grown as people have come and been impacted by the gospel message and by the love of the Pastors and the people. Soon they outgrew the grange hall and began meeting in the church building where the passion play, Jesus of Nazareth has played for over two decades. Church at the Amphitheater allowed for more growth and soon the church needed to find land and build a building suitable for fulfilling the vision that God had given years earlier. Land was purchased at our present location and the first service was held in January of 2000. On April 18, 2004 Pastor Al and Lorraine passed the mantle of leadership to Pastor Dennis and Lori Cummins, who are now the Senior Pastors. Ministries began to grow as people volunteered their time, talent and resources. In 2005 a new identity was pioneered out of South Hill Christian Center called Experience Church.tv.
With the mission to “aggressively save and disciple all that we can”, Pastor Dennis has led the church through changes and improvements to forge a new identity for Experience Church.tv® and to create an experience that is applicable to our culture. Because he feels that no generation should be left behind, he has overcome challenges that many churches face; such as, developing services that are appealing and effectively minister to a wide range of ages. Pastor Dennis uses unique and unconventional methods to illustrate the message and dynamically convey the word of God to the hearts of audiences world wide. He has forged alliances with other international pastors and inspired leaders in the corporate world through his God-given ability to speak into their lives.
Under Pastor Dennis’ leadership, Experience Church.tv has developed processes and new technological standards for church-based media that is designed to educate and inspire other churches that are looking to break out of traditional methods. Experience Church.tv has been featured in the Digital Content Producer Magazine and in Church Production Magazine. Pastor Dennis developed Experience Media Productions which is responsible for producing short films, known as Video Illustrated Points. These short films, like the 21st century parable, are used in conjunction with the sermon to facilitate further understanding of the word of God and are out-sourced as tools for other churches to use.
Pastors Dennis and Lori Cummins have been married since 1991 and currently reside in Puyallup, WA, with their three young sons; Dariel, Chase and Blake. His life’s theme, passed down to him by his father, that “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” is an inseparable value found throughout his ministry.
